AN Example of Shirking Responsibility

Suppose that your child failed in an exam. Ask him/ her about the cause, the answer, most likely, would be any one or the combination of the following:

Exam was very tough.

Teacher unfairly marked the papers.

Teacher does not like me, and so he/she failed me.

The exam paper was out of the syllabus.

I told you I am not good at ''...........'' subject, you should have arranged extra coaching .

This school is not good.

How could I pass, when you fight all the times.

Who can study in such a hot and humid weather without air- conditioning?

Yes, the child is passing the blame on to others: the school, the teacher, the exam paper, parents' fight, or just the weather. He or she is clearing him or herself. Ask even adults or senior managers in organizations for something not happening,  they will promptly pass the blame of their own poor performance on to someone else: customer, a fellow worker, the boss, vendor, advertising agency, government policies, economic conditions or competition. This virus of shirking responsibility is so widely spread in the society that one hardly finds anyone without its effects.

''Whatever you think is easy, is easy.

                  (Prophet Muhammad PBUH)''.

Responsibility is:

State of being responsible.

A trust of charge for which one is responsible.

Responsible means:

Liable to be called in to a account as being in charge or control.

Answerable to (for something)

Deserving the blame or credit for

Morally accountable for one's actions.

The word ''responsibility'' is made of two words,  ''response'' and ''ability to respond'', ''ability to answer'', or ''ability to react''.

Say: 'ye shall not be questioned as to

Our sins nor shall we be questioned

                as to what ye do'.
